New Dwelling, North Norfolk.

Project Location: North Norfolk

Sterne Design was approached by a local contractor to design a series of sustainable homes located in North Norfolk. The brief was to create a design which held a close connection to its surroundings and looked to push the boundaries on integrating renewable technologies where possible. The main design has been guided by studying the natural form of the sites landscaping and has in turn allowed us to integrate 2 storey elements which otherwise would have been difficult.

Traditional materials have been used in a contemporary manner, paying homage to the neighbouring buildings within the local village.

Detailed Hand Sketch

A detailed sketch of the proposal which is presented to the client for review and sign off before finalising all images and formal plans. Sketch is a powerful tool within architecture and should be used wherever possible.

Another sketch drawing shown to the client whilst carefully selecting materials in which the proposal could seek to use. During the ‘sketch scheme’ the technology behind the build and the method of construction is discussed and considered to ensure the design is a success. Sterne Design will always work alongside the client to provide options and advice on which route would be best to suit each individual proposal.

Approach

Approach

With the landscape being designed to flow into the main two storey part of the proposal, the impact from the road is very minimal allowing unobstructed views to be retained. It is not until you enter the site and follow the drive around which then starts to uncover the dwelling behind.
