Sustainability

Sustainability

The goal of sustainable developments is to meet the needs of today, without compromising the needs of tomorrow. This means we cannot continue using current levels of resources as this will not leave enough for future generations. Stabilising and reducing carbon emissions is key to living within environmental limits.

Approach

Approach

Approaching from the carpark, the visitor are moved through the landscaping prior to reaching its entrance.

Internal 01

Internal 01

Under the canopy of the roof, the user is lead towards a small simplistic entrance which emphasises the detailing above. The structure has been designed internally to represent the trees which surround this site and cast large shadows manipulating the buildings original form. Gives the impression of the fragmentation of the constructed building. It is characterized by an absence of harmony, continuity, or symmetry.

Approach 02

Approach 02

The approach has been an essential part of the design considerations to ensure that the user fully appreciates the buildings form. The access has also been located close to the small existing carpark for the woodland which currently holds approximately 10 cars. Therefore, our carpark would be able to provide additional parking when required, promoting the need for outdoor walking and encouraging the public to use often.
